Data content: For every EV journey in this dataset, the following quantities are provided:

  • NOx - grams of NOx not emitted in the atmosphere

  • PM - grams of particulate matter not emitted in the atmosphere

For some journeys the following quantities are also provided:

 

  • Start time - When the journey started (dd/MM/YYYY hh:mm:ss)

  • End time - When the journey ended (dd/MM/YYYY hh:mm:ss)

  • Duration - Duration of the journey in seconds.

Data content: For every charging event in this dataset, the following quantities are provided:

 

  • Charge - The amount of electric charge provided by the charging point during the session (kWh)

  • Cost - Cost of the charging session for the vehicle's user.

  • Start time - When the charging session started (dd/MM/YYYY hh:mm:ss)

DATA TYPES

This website provides city-data that is being broadcast from a range of different sources. Currently the main focus of the data is on energy consumption, transport and mobility, air quality and weather.

Energy Consumption

 

Description: We are gathering energy consumption data from different buildings across the Manchester Corridor. Currently we are providing access to energy consumption data from a limited number of estates belonging to the University of Manchester. We are planning to extend the number of estates, so as to have a better coverage of the University Campus and to also include buildings belonging to other institutions, such as the Manchester Metropolitan University and the Manchester City Council. The data we currently provide access to represents half-hourly electricity consumption readings. For every building you should expect one reading every half-hour, indicating the total electricity consumption of that estate in the last 30 minutes.

 

Note: Because the readings refer to a specific time period (30 minutes) it is recommended to download the original data, and not to use a custom time interval (which would result in downloading interpolated data).

Transport and Mobility

 

Description: We currently offer access to data pertaining to:

 

  • Car-parks in Greater Manchester; 

  • Journeys of Electric Vehicles (EVs) deployed by the University of Manchester and the Manchester Metropolital University;

  • Journeys of cargo-bikes used for last-mile delivery across the Corridor;

  • Charging session EVs charging points.

 

The journeys data of EVs and cargo-bikes are also used to assess the environmental impact of resorting to non-fossil fuel vehicles. Such impact is assessed against the use of light commercial diesel vehicles following the EURO6 standard.
